hiding under the bed with the monsters.

I'd welcome you inside my head, but I unscrewed it the other day and left it in the library. I presume its devouring all the books hungrily. I hope when it finished it will come home, but you really never know with these creatures of habit.

every time you hear a canned laugh take a shot. you die of alcohol poisoning. the end.

um actually it’s recorded with a live audience so it’s not canned laughter?

that means that an entire audience laughed when one of them walked down the stairs
there was literally no joke
he just walked down the stairs

It’s called Enhanced Laughter. Basically there was an audience laughing and there was a show but somehow they didn’t correlate perfectly.

the fact that a show has been recorded with a live audience can actually be pretty misleading. I’ve been to a few show tapings - mostly quiz shows, but I don’t suppose the techniques are very different - and the first thing they get you to do once you’re warmed up - BEFORE the talent arrives - is to “check levels”, which require you to clap and cheer and laugh too loud at lame jokes, and then they enhance any moments where there is supposed to be a joke by using some of these sounds. Even if a joke DOES elicit a reaction from an audience, it is likely supplemented with these level tests.
